Faculty Services: Library Instruction Requests

Library Instruction Requests

In addition to offering individual assistance at the Reference Desk and research consultations by appointment, librarians provide library orientation classes for all levels.

  • Introduction to library resources & services for all freshman students in English 106, 110, 210
  • Advanced classes on specialized resources for upper division undergraduates or graduate students

In a library class, a librarian may take a sample topic through several steps in library research including stating a research problem, selecting search terms, searching the online catalog, consulting background sources, accessing library databases and the Internet, and evaluating the search results. Librarians may also describe access to resources beyond the College Library. A good time for such instruction is when students are starting work on a term paper or several weeks before a research project is due.

To request a library or research session for English 106, 110, or 210 contact Sarah Sheehan.

To request a library or research session for a specific subject or major contact your subject librarian.
